Manbhavan: Youth Festival 2023
Manbhavan Youth Festival 2023
MK Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India
Hello readers! I am Rajeshvari Rana. This blog is created as part of a task assigned by Dr. Dilip Barad. The focus of this blog is the Youth Festival 2023, now named 'Manbhavan: Competitive Youth Festival 2023,' oraganized and hosted by the Physical Education Department, Maharaja Krishnkumarsinghji Bhavnagar University, on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th of November 2023.
The main theme and tagline of this youth festival was "Nari Shakti Vandana," a theme inspired by the recently passed Nari Shakti Vandana bill in Parliament. The festival dedicated itself to honoring women from diverse fields for their noteworthy contributions.
In this blog, I will be addressing several questions given as part of the assigned task.
Themes are represented in various tableaux of Kala Yatra.
Kala Yatra is arranged as a component of KALA PRADRSHAN, to familiarize the public with its cultural significance.
On November 2, 2023, the Kalayatra kicks off from Samaldas Arts College, Gujarat, starting at 3:00 PM. The procession concludes at J.K. Saravaiya College, Saradarnagar, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The host for Kalayatra is Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Sardarnagar.
I am also participating in Kalayatra along with other students. Our team is focusing on a feminine theme, representing the situations of women in both traditional and modern society. Those portraying the modern aspect of females showcase the brighter and more powerful sides.
As volunteers, many of our fellow students take on roles such as arranging water and handling other essential tasks. Their contributions significantly eased the execution of our part in Kalayatra.

2) College Code 1 highlighted the theme of "Narishakti Vandana," incorporating a variety of slogans to convey their message.
Its showcased successful women from diverse fields, putting a focus on presenting women not just as influential figures in society but also as embodiments of Shakti and motherhood.
3) College Code 4 focused on Chandrayan, the new satellite launched by ISRO. They showcased India's long journey in space science, going all the way back to the Vedas. The display aimed to highlight how important our ancient Indian knowledge system is.
4) The Life Science Department chose the theme 'Humans Caught in the Mobile Trap.' Mobile addiction is steering people in the wrong direction. The entire concept was well-executed and presented, shedding light on the obsession with selfies and its potential consequences, including loss of life. The presentation also delved into the impact of social media on people's lives.
5) College Code 38 adopted the theme of "Narishakti Vandana," spotlighting accomplished women from Gujarat.
6) College Code 53 included the theme of "Chandrayan," delving into India's space exploration.
Kalayatra Starts from 19:25.

Major themes in dramatic events like One Act Play (एकांकी), Skit (लघु
One Act plays gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a response to changing theatrical tastes and the desire for more concise, impactful storytelling. They became a significant part of the Little Theatre Movement, which aimed to produce more intimate and experimental works.
Themes for One Act plays can vary widely, covering a spectrum of human experiences. Some common themes include love and relationships, identity and self-discovery, societal issues, humor and satire, existential dilemmas, and historical events.
Skit:
A skit is a brief, humorous performance often used to convey a message or entertain. Typically short and light-hearted, skits are popular in theater, comedy, and educational settings.
Mime:
Mime is a non-verbal form of performance art that uses gestures, expressions, and movements to convey a story or emotion. It relies on the physicality of the performer for communication.
Mono-acting:
Mono-acting is a solo performance where one actor portrays various characters or a singular character. It showcases the actor's versatility and storytelling ability, often relying on dramatic monologues or dialogues.
Can you apply dramatic literary theories propounded by Aristotle (Tragedy), Ben Jonson (Comedy of Humours), Dryden (Play), Martin
Esslin (Absurd theatre), Irving Wardle (Comedy of Menace) on the dramatic events presented in the Youth Festival?
Initiating a shift in perspective, the classical unities, or Aristotelian unities, emerged as rules for dramatic tragedy in 16th-century Italy. These guidelines, emphasizing unity of action, place, and time, were later redefined by Lodovico Castelvetro in 1570, commonly known as "Aristotelian rules" for drama.
Within this Youth Festival, a noteworthy event unfolds through the art of skit. The essential elements of time, action, and place take center stage in skits, demanding quickness, expressive gestures, and precise dialogue timing for effective comedic satire. Similar considerations apply to mime, where actions dictate the play, necessitating meticulous timing and execution.
Dryden's play definition applies to one-act plays and skits portraying human nature, passions, and the twists of fate.
In 'Laxmi,' the core of human nature is evident as Laxmi is restricted from playing or being with her beloved Madhav. Similarly, in 'Vat Ek Vyathani,' all female characters yearn for the fulfillment of their own passions.
Poetry: In poetry, we have only one event in Youth Festival. સ્વ રચિત કાવ્ય પઠન: If you get chance to listen poems (as it will be in the classroom and maybe all do not get chance to occupy space) - write on themes, metaphors used in the poems, types of poems (sonnet, lyric, etc).
For a while, I have been participating in session involving on-the-spot poetry recitation. I've had the opportunity to listen to some wonderful poems during these sessions.
These are the topics for on the spot poetry making.
1. ઉમ્મીદ
2. બાળપણ ખોવાણું
3. સ્મરણોની કેડીએ
4.જે કર જૂલાવે પારણું
5. મેરી મિટ્ટી મેરા દેશ
In this competition, the recitation part holds significant importance. The impact of poetry depends on how it is recited and the manner in which it is presented.
On the last day, before or after valedictory, all art events of FINE ARTS like cartooning, painting, collage, poster making, clay-modeling, and installation will be open for public display. You can study themes, satire, didacticism, and aestheticism in all these artistic expressions.
At last, I attended these demonstrations of all Art things. Rangoli, On the Spot Painting, Poster Making, Collage, Clay Modelling, and Cartooning works are displayed.
Satire:
Satire plays a central role in cartooning, where artists satirize current norms through comedy. In painting events, satire is utilized to convey specific messages or express particular viewpoints.
Didacticism, and Aestheticism:
All art forms teach us in different ways. Rangoli teaches the beauty of discipline, painting imparts various lessons through colors and shapes, awakening the mind. Cartooning teaches a softer way to express criticism. Clay modeling instills dedication and patience in shaping things. Installation art leads the mind to find importance and usefulness in scrap or extra things around us. Through creativity, we give them a voice without a predefined purpose.
Your experience as a participant/volunteer, if you have participated or volunteered in any event.
While I'm not serving as a volunteer, I keenly observe those who are dedicating their time. Volunteers play a crucial role, ensuring the seamless flow of activities. They handle tasks such as registration, provide guidance, and manage various arrangements, contributing significantly to the overall smooth operation of the event.
Lastly, write on which ever other events you attend and along with it, overall feeling of experiencing Youth Festival - ponder upon this - it is known as 'festival of youthfulness' - युवानी का महोत्सव |
As I attended various events, the Youth Festival unveiled itself as a celebration of youthful energy, vibrant talents, and shared passions. It truly lived up to its title, the 'Festival of Youthfulness' or 'युवानी का महोत्सव,' leaving me inspired and rejuvenated by the collective spirit of creativity and enthusiasm.
